I have discovered that there is an old boys' association via this Ramsgate History site. Despite my two e-mails directed to the actual society- no response to date. Can anyone let me know if a celebration dinner is to be arranged for this ancient school on or about the 23rd April next ??  (i.e. St. George's Day...also Shakespeare's birthday ! ...disputed...) My brother and I would really like to attend the function as we are both ex-pupils of this establishment . For old gits...a rare opportunity to get wasted !! COLIN.

My uncle, Norman Laker,  used to come down to Ramsgate around the time of St Georges Day as he was an old boy, sadly he passed away a year ago.

When did your uncle go to the school?

Today would have been his 84th birthday so I popped round to see my mother and asked her.

She said that although they were both evacuated in June 1940, by 1943 some children were returning to Ramsgate as the threat of invasion had passed, even though there were air raids. She said that he probably went there in late 1943.

Thanks, he there well before me.
I went to a couple of reunions hoping to see ex-class mates but saw none of my year.
The 3 or 4 I knew were from previous or future years.

Yes,my brother and I attended this year for the first time. It was an excellent dinner and the after dinner talks were very interesting and quite entertaining. i won a bottle of wine in the raffle. Unfortunately, I did not meet anyone from my era at the school.

Smiley Where was the venue this year Colin..?

Unfortunately a regular attendee and old class mate of mine, Phil Wratten,  couldn't attend through illness. Angry

The reunion venue was the Pegwell Bay Hotel. A delicious dinner and a terrific view over the bay. I think it will be the same venue next year. Cheers.
