The Royal Pavilion    .Does anyone know what is to become of this once ..........   Royally appointed,.... great, building on Ramsgate Seafront ? In my youth, I remember visiting the premises for dinner/ dances, wonderful variety shows, a circus or two and the cinema and all within this iconic building.  I did not make use of it in the Casino years. Is it to be a "Phoenix Rising" or just another blank plot of land beside the sea?

Don't hold me to this one, but to the best of my knowledge, a developer named Jon D. of 36 Effingham Street, together with some involvement with girls from Clarendon House, were discussing the Pavilion online and they talked about turning it into a shopping and leisure centre.  It's something I stumbled upon online, so how it looks in reality I am unable to speculate.

Oh many thanks Thanatos. I no longer live in Ramsgate and I read on line about a year ago that there was the prospect of turning the grand edifice into a Wetherspoons Public House.

Wetherspoons? God forbid! But I wouldn't be surprised.  Ramsgate even has a mosque, albeit a very discreet one (for now).  It's upstairs at the launderette in Grange Road, opposite the De Ville.

From Thanet Gazette

JD WETHERSPOON has quashed rumours it is set to pull out of plans to convert Ramsgate's Royal Victoria Pavilion into Britain's biggest pub.

Have just read that link, and am highly unimpressed.  Also, there are two replies sent to that article.  The first one is:
"ThanetGirl  |  February 02 2016, 7:56AM

Of all of the three towns in Thanet, Ramsgate shows the most promise in terms of regeneration. The Wetherspoons development will bring thousands of new visitors to Ramsgate."

and the second one is:
"Well, young Miss Wethersp ---- I mean, ThanetGirl, I can just imagine your vision of "thousands of new visitors to Ramsgate" thanks to a new Wetherspoons pub".

Personally, I put it forward that the second correspondent seems to have it sussed out correctly.

So, is it going to happen or not ? The current theme seems to question the 'value' of a Wetherspoons Public House within the very royal premises ! COLIN. (out of town-- but I pop back regularly!)

Work has now started at this site.

It looks like there is an Asbestos clean up in progress and there is Hoarding up to conceal work vans that are in attendence.

So work is now started, unlike the adjacent site..............
